529th Convocation Ceremony

The 529th Convocation will take place on Friday, December 9, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. and will be held in Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. All graduating candidates will participate in this ceremony, during which the President will confer degrees and present each graduate with their diploma individually.

Tickets & Seating

Tickets are required for the 529th Convocation; each candidate is entitled to a total of three (3) guest tickets. Requests for extra tickets should be made as early as possible through your Dean of Students Office.  

Seating in Rockefeller Chapel is available at a first-come, first-served basis.
Doors open at 2:15 p.m. Guests should arrive no later than 2:45 p.m. 

Overflow seating will be available first-come, first-serve at Max Palevsky Cinema in Ida Noyes Hall, 1212 East 59th Street, where a live video feed of the ceremony will be shown. Doors open at 2:15 p.m. to overflow seating.  Tickets are not required.

The University will video record the ceremony and make it available on the Convocation website approximately three weeks after the ceremony.

Convocation Reception

The University of Chicago Alumni Association invites all graduates and their guests to attend the Convocation Reception immediately following the ceremony in the Cloister Club at Ida Noyes Hall, 1212 E. 59th Street.

Special Accommodations

The 529th Convocation will be held Friday, December 9, 2016.  Accessible seating is available for guests with disabilities. This seating area is designated for individuals using wheelchairs, persons with limited mobility, and guests with visual or hearing impairments. To make arrangements, please complete the Guest Accommodation Request Form.  Please know that we do not supply wheelchairs for Convocation ceremonies, however, we can offer reserved seating closest to the handicap entrance for guests.
