The Convocation Address

Abbie J. Smith will deliver the 515th Convocation Address. She is the Boris and Irene Stern Distinguished Service Professor of Accounting at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Smith has taught and conducted research in the areas of corporate governance and financial reporting since joining Chicago’s faculty in 1980. She received the McKinsey Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1990, and was a Co-Editor of the Journal of Accounting Research from 2001 – 2011. Smith currently serves on the Board of Directors of Dimensional Funds, Chicago-based UBS Funds, HNI Corp., and Ryder System, Inc.
