Community Information

On Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6, the University of Chicago will host its annual Convocation activities on campus that will impact streets in the neighborhood. Class Day will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The University’s 540th Convocation and complementary events will occur from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Convocation and related activities are part of a long-standing tradition to gather the community to celebrate many achievements. We want to make sure our neighbors can plan for any disruption in normal street use and parking restrictions throughout the neighborhood. Please see the attached graphic highlighting the streets that will be impacted on Friday and Saturday.

During the two days, campus colleagues and our neighbors can expect the following:

• Friday road closures (see map)
• Saturday road closures (see map)
• Parking restrictions
• On Saturday, CTA bus routes 171 and 172 will be rerouted in the morning. Service will be suspended from noon to 5:00 p.m. and will resume after 5:00 p.m.
• An increased number of visitors to campus

Events Happening in Hyde Park
