On Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7, the University of Chicago will host its annual Convocation activities on campus that will impact streets in the neighborhood. Class Day takes place from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. on Friday, and the University’s 539th Convocation and complementary events will occur from 7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Convocation and related activities are part of a long-standing tradition to gather the community to celebrate many achievements, and we want to make sure our neighbors can plan for any disruption in normal use of the streets and parking restrictions throughout the neighborhood.
During the two days, campus colleagues and our neighbors can expect the following:
- Friday road closures
- Saturday road closures
- Parking restrictions
- On Saturday, CTA bus routes 171 and 172: morning service will be rerouted; service will be suspended from noon-5:00 p.m.; and regular service resumes after 5:00 p.m.
- Increased number of visitors to the campus

2025 Saturday Parking Restrictions and Road Closures
Operations at the medical center will remain as is, however, parking for medical center guests and patients will be provided exclusively at Parking Garage B, located at the corner of 57th and Cottage Grove. Events Happening in Hyde Park
The 57th Art Festival will take place in-person and virtually on Saturday, June 7 – Sunday, June 8. This will take place between Kenwood Avenue and Woodlawn Avenue in Hyde Park. For more information, please visit: www.57thstreetartfair.org.
